New Beginning, Article 370 Scrapped: Jammu & Kashmir Becomes Union Terrritory




On 31st December, officially the state Jammu & Kashmir has been divided into two Union Territories Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. The day also marks the birth anniversary of ''Iron Man Of India" – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He played a prominent role in merging more than 560 states into the Indian Union after independence.

Earlier, before the abrogation of Article 370, the state J&K had a special status that prevented the state from implementing laws passed by the Indian parliament. But now the princely state must abide by the Indian parliament legislations like any other state in India.
